Ex-Tottenham, Watford & Switzerland Euros star Vega supports George Afriyie to become Ghana FA President

Retired Switzerland defender, Ramon Vega, who enjoyed an illustrious career in the English Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur, has pledged his support to George Afriyie to become the next Ghana Football Association President.

Vega, 48, spent four seasons playing high top level football in England at the White Hart Lane and achieving over half a century appearances and scoring close to ten goals as a defender.

After spending several seasons playing top-tier football in Switzerland, Italy, England and Scotland Vega worked with a lot of world-class football administrators and investors.

And, after coming into contact with George Afriyie through his asset management organisation and football entrepreneurship ventures Vega has enthusiastically praised the qualities of the former Ghana FA Vice President and labelled as the best to lead Ghana football.

“I support George Afriyie to lead the Ghana Football Association because he brings integrity and honesty into the game. I think he has great ideas to develop football in Ghana and also for generations in the future,” he praised the CAF AFCON Organising Committee member in a short video.

He also pledged his support to Ghana football should Afriyie become the next President of the GFA.

“I’ve also been working in the financial sector in the last twenty years and I’m a big supporter of George to become the next GFA President,” he added.

Afriyie, a former Chairman of the Ghana FA’s Juvenile Committee, received the highest number of endorsements among the seven aspirants contesting for the top seat.

Twelve out of the sixteen Ghana Premier League clubs and Twenty Division One League sides endorsed his forms.
