The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi received four distinctive awards at the second Ghana Procurement and Supply Chain Award 2019 held in Accra.
The awards followed the hospital’s strict adherence to the procurement law and its enforcement.

KATH won Excellence in Procurement and Supply Chain (silver category), Public Procurement and Supply Chain Compliance(silver category), Procurement and Supply Chain Team of the year (Bronze category).
To cap a wonderful night, the Head of procurement at KATH who is also the Mr Deputy Director, Supply Chain Management, Mr Sampson Owusu-Afriyie, was selected as one of Ghana’s top 20 Procurement Specialists.
During the maiden edition in 2018 the hospital was crowned the best Public procurement and supply chain team of the year, Best in public procurement chain compliance, Excellence in procurement and supply chain of the year and Healthcare/ pharmaceuticals of the year.
Just like this year, Mr Sampson Owusu-Afriyie was again selected as one of the top 20 procurement specialists in the country.

Prior to these current awards, the Public Procurement Association in 2008 declared KATH as a Centre of Excellence in public procurement practice.
Briefing the Daily Graphic in Kumasi after the awards, Mr Owusu-Afriyie commended the management and the board for their insistence on the right bring done which contributed to the achievement.
He said the KATH was blessed with “wonderful brains” and dedicated staff contributing to the general success of the hospital.
Mr Owusu-Afriyie said the team was going to work hard to improve on the current achievement.
