TALK OF THE TOWN: Society queen Claire Caudwell clashes with lover Scott O’Brien

UK News

Glamorous philanthropist and society stalwart Claire Caudwell has told businessman Scott O’Brien she wants to end their relationship after he wrongly accused her of sleeping with her ex-partner, Phones 4U billionaire John Caudwell.

Claire remains amicable with Caudwell, her partner of 15 years with whom she has a son. They split in 2014, but last month was invited to tour his new £250 million ‘mega mansion’. As the Mayfair property is a sprawling 45,000sq ft and has its own indoor river with fish, it took two hours to look around. The mansion is actually two huge back-to-back houses on separate streets that have been knocked into one.

Unknown to Claire, Scott was waiting in a nearby shisha bar and, when she emerged, he is said to have accused her of ignoring his calls and getting up to no good with her ex. In the row that followed, Claire told Scott their relationship needed to end – but I’m told she has faced a battle to remove him from her life.

Says a source: ‘Scott is refusing to accept the relationship is over. Since they started dating a year ago, it has become increasingly hard to get hold of her, as he often answers her calls. Clare has been trying to shake him off but she’s too nice.’

Last night may have been awkward for the pair, as Scott was still planning to attend the Float Like A Butterfly gala ball with Claire, who co-hosted it with John at Grosvenor House on Park Lane.

Claire is well known for throwing lavish society parties with John. When Claire turned 50 in May, John threw a star-studded bash for her, which she attended with Scott. John and his girlfriend of three years, Modesta Vzesniauskaite, posed with the then-happy couple, as my picture shows.

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage tells me he would take a seat in the Lords after all – under the right circumstances. ‘I’d do it but only if I got to sit beside Michelle Mone,’ quipped Nige at the 30th anniversary of Scottish restaurant Boisdale of Belgravia last week.

He was referring, of course, to the businesswoman who founded lingerie firm Ultimo, a feat that led to her nickname Baroness Bra.

Unfortunately, Farage could be left rather lonely – she’s only shown up in the chambers 89 times since 2015.

Oh no! Lily’s got the Ugg bug again

Ugg boots are back. Or at least they must be, because actress and Chanel model Lily Collins was seen in Paris last week sporting a pair while filming her new TV show known as the French Sex And The City.

Lily, 30, the daughter of pop star Phil Collins, was wearing them to keep warm in between takes of Emily In Paris.

The comedy-drama has been created by Darren Star, who produced Sex And The City at a time when it was acceptable to wear the sheepskin boots.

Lily’s co-star Ashley Park declared she was ‘single-handedly bringing Ugg culture back’. I wish she wouldn’t!

It’s a problem many fathers face these days – how to stop their children from getting too many tattoos.

Now PR supremo Matthew Freud has sent a heartfelt text to teenage daughter Charlotte which perfectly articulates the woes of parents.

Matthew says he felt very sad when he saw Charlotte’s latest inking – the autograph of pop star Mika on her collarbone, inset. ‘Please, please think about how much body art you want. I honestly believe that one day you will regret some of them. I thought about walking you down the aisle one day and that tattoo being there and me feeling like I had failed to stop you making stupid decisions.’
