Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey have been shortlisted for the CAF Men’s player of the year.
The two made a 30-man shortlist released by CAF.
Ayew and Partey were the only two out of four Ghanaians initially nominated for the CAF FIFpro XI, sneaking into the top 30. Countrymen Mubarak Wakaso and Richard Ofori however missed out.
The pair comes up against the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyung, Nicholas Pepe amongst others.
CAF is expected to cut down the list to the final three who will compete for the ultimate in January 2020 at the Aiteo CAF awards Gala.
No Ghanaian have won the Africa Footballer of the year award since 1992 when Abedi Pele clinched it with the likes of Asamoah Gyan, Michael Essien, Samuel Osei Kuffour and Andre Ayew only getting closer.
Egypt and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is the reigning Africa Football of the year.
