New Edubiase United kept their season intact with a slender 1-0 win over Achiken FC in the Division One Zonal League on Wednesday.
Promising striker Prince Antwi scored the game’s solitary goal in the course of the first-half as the Movers claimed the maximum points before an expectant home crowd in the Central region.
Antwi, who remains fresh in the memory of most Asante Kotoko fans following his match-winning goal against the Porcupine Warriors in Edubiase’s last Premier League season, scored a poacher’s goal after breaking the defensive lines of Achiken and firing beyond the reach of the guests goalkeeper midway through the first-half.
Edubiase paraded a mixture of experience and youth as Alhassan Nuhu started in midfield along with Abdul Basit and other key members of the squad.
Achiken, who are based in Bekwai – the former home grounds of Edubiase, were lucky to end the game with a narrow margin loss as Edubiase striker Abdul Basit hit the woodwork a number of times.
The hosts have now amassed four (4) points from their opening two games of the season after following their opening day 0-0 stalemate with Sekondi Hasaacas.
Edubiase will travel to Bekwai to face winless Bekwai Youth FC in their next fixture at the Gyamfi’s Park.
