Lily James is spotted kissing rocker Michael Shuman from debauched US band Queens of the Stone Age

UK News

In Downton Abbey her character Lady Rose found true love with a suitably aristocratic young man.

Had Lily James’s latest male chum turned up at Downton, however, he would have given the Dowager Countess a fit of the vapours before being swiftly expelled by Carson the butler.

The actress has been spotted kissing American rock star Michael Shuman, a member of Queens Of The Stone Age, the band notorious for on-stage nudity and claims of drug and alcohol abuse.

Their single Feel Good Hit Of The Summer includes the lyrics: ‘Nicotine, Valium, Vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol, co-co-co-co-co-cocaine.’

They once performed the song at a gig in a California rehab facility – and were kicked out.

In contrast, Miss James has played the lead in Disney’s live-action remake of Cinderella and starred in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

She and Shuman, who follow each other on Instagram, were seen sharing a kiss as Miss James got into a car outside a boutique hotel in Suffolk on Thursday.

The bassist waved her off as she headed to the set of her latest film What’s Love Got To Do With It?

Shuman, 35, is reportedly staying at the hotel, where Miss James is quarantining with cast and crew.

An eyewitness said: ‘Lily’s driver turned up just after 9am, then she and Michael emerged from the hotel together a few minutes later. They were laughing and joking and looked very happy together.’

Last October Miss James set tongues wagging when pictures emerged of her getting affectionate in Rome with married actor Dominic West, her co-star in upcoming BBC drama The Pursuit Of Love.

The pair were seen riding a scooter together, with West also stroking Miss James’s hair and appearing to kiss the side of her face during a lunch with their agent and mutual friend Angharad Wood.

Miss James is rumoured to have reassured West’s wife Catherine FitzGerald, a landscape gardener, that there was nothing going on.

Miss James split from long-term boyfriend and Doctor Who star Matt Smith at the end of 2019.

In August she was pictured heading to a hotel in London with US actor Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in Marvel superhero films, after partying into the early hours at a private members’ club.

They were then spotted enjoying an ice cream together in a London park.

It is unclear how Miss James met Shuman, who joined Queens Of The Stone Age in 2007.

In 2017 lead singer Josh Homme was forced to apologise after kicking a female photographer in the face at a concert.

Homme spent time in rehab following his split from his wife Brody Dalle in 2019, with Miss Dalle citing alcoholism and drug abuse as the reasons for their divorce.

Bass guitarist Nick Oliveri, who was fired from the band after a bust-up with Homme, was famously no stranger to stripping off on stage.

Some of which may help Miss James with her next role – playing Baywatch star Pamela Anderson in a drama about her marriage to rocker Tommy Lee.
