Niger opposition demands suspension of publication of electoral results

The opposition in Niger on Tuesday denounced what it termed an electoral “hold-up” during the second round of the presidential election which was held on Sunday February 21.

It demanded the ”the immediate suspension of the publication of results”. The results are not yet known, but early results posted by the national election commission known as CENI on Monday, put the ruling party’s candidate candiate, Mohamed Bazoum as taking early leads.

“I ask all Nigeriens to mobilize as one to defeat this electoral hold-up,” Falk√© Bacharou, campaign manager of the main rival Mahamane Ousmane, said.
