Asamoah Gyan advised to quit Black Stars

Ex-Ghana star Rev. Osei Kofi has advised the country’s record goal scorer Asamoah Gyan to quit the Black Stars.

Gyan’s reign as Black Stars captain officially came to an end after Coach CK Akonnor retained Swansea City ace Andre Ayew as the team’s captain.

In 2019, the former Sunderland striker rescinded an earlier decision to retire from the National team after he was stripped off his role as Ghana captain.

The 33-year-old had initially announced his decision to quit the National team prior to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and exempted himself from the squad.

An intervention by the President Nana Addo saw the player going back on his words by changing the decision.

With Ayew being officially confirmed as the substantive captain under CK Akonnor, the ex-Rennes and Kayserispor man has been advised to retire from the game by a National legend who played a huge role in the Black Stars team.

“Good name is better than riches and if Gyan will listen to me, he should quit the Black Stars because he is not the Gyan we use to know”

“I think he should honourably resign from the team to save his name,” the two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner told Angel FM.

Atletico Madrid mdfielder Thomas Partey and Maritzburg goalkeeper Richard Ofori have also been appointed as deputy captains for the Black Stars.
