This is the moment Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway prank Jeremy Clarkson by using eco-mob actors to dump three tonnes of mushroom compost over his car.

Clarkson became the TV duo’s latest victim as they filmed his stunned reaction down on the star’s Diddly Squat farm in Chadlington, Oxfordshire – where actors posing as protestors cheered, waved placards and held up a banner proclaiming: ‘Soil has feeling, Clarkson doesn’t.’

Police today confirmed that they took no action because it was a joke filmed for the TV show.

Clarkson arrived at the farm on Tuesday morning with his partner Lisa Hogan to speak to the so-called protestors, who daubed his farm shop with graffiti declaring ‘Save our Turf, Save the Earth.’

The startled star, 61, looked on as the compost was dumped all over his gleaming dark green Range Rover by a man driving a digger wearing a dark hat and mask.

The former Top Gear host stood next to a police patrol car seemingly unable to comprehend what was going on at his farm. The joke was eventually revealed after the star had seeming fallen for the joke.

Another actor could be seen on the roof of the vehicle egging him on by shouting and raising his fist in the air while one leans out of it helping to direct the digger towards its target.

As an avalanche of mushroom compost descends on the car, Clarkson briefly turns to speak to his partner.

Seconds later, the star saunters over to his Range Rover with one hand in his pocket and bends over to pick up a piece of what had been dumped to examine it, immediately throwing it back on the pile.

An ITV source said: ‘Ant and Dec have been targeting Jeremy for years, it’s a major coup for them. All the protesters were actors and did a brilliant job of pranking him – he had no idea.

‘Ant and Dec were on site dressed up as part of the mob. They can’t believe it went so well.’

An eyewitness who filmed the targeting of Clarkson’s car and the naked protest told MailOnline: ‘It was like something out of a Monty Python movie, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.

‘First there was a naked man being chased by a policeman and then this digger appears out of nowhere and dumps all this stuff all over the car. What really shocked me was that Clarkson didn’t say a word, which is not like him at all.

‘Normally he has an opinion on everything, but he just stood there silent as all this stuff landed on his car.’

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police tweeted: ‘We would like to confirm that this was not a police matter as this was a television film crew filming actors in a protest scene. We were made aware of the filming in advance, and no offences have been committed.’

Clarkson has been embroiled in an on-going battle over his plans for the future of the farm, which was the setting for the Amazon series Clarkson’s Farm.

He opened the farm shop last year to sell merchandise and food produced at his Diddly Squat Farm which he bought back in 2008.

Following grievances from neighbours over the increase in traffic and driving by visitors to the shop, Clarkson revealed he wanted to build a restaurant in an old lambing shed on his land.

His plans angered his already disgruntled neighbours with Clarkson writing about their reaction in his latest Sunday Times column.

The presenter said that his suggestion had ‘gone down like a shower of sick with a few red-trouser people in my local village.’

Despite the backlash, Clarkson continued to speak about winning over the council planners next, saying: ‘It was a (mostly) polite battle between the red-tractor movement and the red trousers, and I think I did quite well.’

Series two of Clarkson’s Farm is set to be released later this year.
