Police are searching for the long-time boyfriend of a Manhattan woman who was found dead in her apartment’s bathtub with a gunshot would to the head.
Police responded to a call of an assault inside a Washington Heights sixth-floor apartment on Friday night.
When NYPD officers arrived they found 50-year-old Ramona Rodriguez-Reynoso dead in her bathtub.
The tub was filled with blood and Rodriguez-Reynoso’s head wound was so severe that police initially believed she was attacked with a machete, a police source told the New York Daily News.
Neighbors told how they heard screaming before police arrived at the scene.
‘I heard some screaming, not from her,’ said Ines Benitez, 36, told the Daily News.
‘It was a woman screaming really loud, that’s why I knew something was wrong.’
Police are now searching for the 50-year-old’s boyfriend, who was not in the apartment when police arrived.
The 50-year-old was found dead in the bathtub of her sixth-floor W. 167th St. apartment near Audubon Ave in Washington Height, New York.

The pair had been together for 30 years and share two adult daughters, neighbors told the New York Post.
‘I known the two of them my entire life,’ a 40-year-old family friend told the Post. ‘It’s unbelievable. It’s shocking to me. She was a good person. I saw no problems. I’ve never seen no fighting.”
Rodriguez-Reynoso worked for the nearby New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center, neighbors said.
No arrest have been made and investigations are ongoing.
