Black appeared to be popular amongst the crowd for the occasion, with many donning their grungiest items.

But others opted for more surreal costumes filled with colour.

It is the first time since 2018 the Falls Festival has been held in Victoria after the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic and 2019 due to the bushfires.

It’s also the first time the event has been moved to Melbourne following a previous announcement in July that it would be held in Murroon.

The event has been billed as Falls Downtown Melbourne.

The original Wiggles began playing at the festival on Thursday afternoon.

Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt took to the stage to sing songs from the group’s Rewiggled album, their single, Elephant, and some of their classic tunes like Hot Potato.

Aussie singer MAY-A, singer Genesis Owusu and electronic dance duo Choomba also performed on Thursday.
