Barcelona have sacked coach Ronald Koeman following Wednesday’s 1/0 LA LIGA deafeat to Rayo Vallecano. This happens to be the club’s third loss in the last four games.
Following Koeman’s sacked, GOBSPORTS has gathered sources that the club will open talks with the club’s former dynamo midfielder Xavi Hernandez on Friday, regarding the vacant, with the former team captain now the first choice on the club’s radar.
However, the same sources added that Barcelona don’t expect to have a replacement in place until after the November international break. A interim coach thus a care taker coach is set to steer in charge for the club’s next three games against Alaves, Dynamo Kiev and Celta vigo.
Ronald Koeman’s position seriously had been weakened after non performance and poor results prior to the October international break, with a back to back losses against rivals Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano this week proving to be a tipping point and a weaker opposition.
The 58 year old coach leaves Barcelona placing the club ninth on the league table and in danger of missing out on the champions league knockouts phase for the first time in 20 years, with the side yet to have an away win in any competition so far this season.
Barcelona in a statement by the club’s President, Joan Lapota, He said, FC Barcelona have relieved Ronald Koeman of duties as a first team coach. Koeman was informed of the decision after defeat against Rayo Vallecano.
Koeman will say goodbye to the squad on Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva. FC Barcelona wishes to thank him for his services to the club and wish him all the best in his professional career.
As for Xavi, sources still has it that the Belgium boss Roberto Martinez is part of the candidates for the job but Xavi has been tipped as the bigger target for the job.
