Women in Boston are coming together to stand in solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islanders community.
The “Stride for Unity” walk and run started Sunday morning at the Jackson/Mann K-8 School and was organized by Trailblazhers Run Co., an all-women running group in Boston.

Boston City Councilor Michelle Wu, who is also a mayoral candidate, spoke before the event started and was among those who called to take action in response to the attacks on people in the AAPI community.
“The ongoing reminders of just how deep hatred, structural racism and killing of unarmed, particularly Black Americans, and now an acceleration of anti-Asian hate to the point where there is clear violence and murder — sometimes it feels like too much to bear,” Wu said.
Organizers of the event also held a self-defense workshop.
